Eden · @edenfunf ↗ ReelMimic turns a video you love into a new one in the same style: an AI crew on your own Claude Code or Codex breaks down the reference, then plans, builds and reviews it.
New Describe a story and get a warm picture-book animation as an MP4: waxy crayon fills on cream paper, coloured-pencil outlines, page turns and hand-lettered captions.

Drop in a file, a phone recording or a YouTube link, and it breaks down the shot lengths, BPM, transitions, colors, framing and camera moves, then shows you a storyboard, characters and style frames to approve.
It runs on your own computer through your Claude Code or Codex account, with up to 6 agents working on different parts of the video at once. Each finished shot goes to a different agent for review, every fix comes with before and after screenshots, and you can leave notes at any second of the finished video.
It covers 2D only, across seven drawing engines: vector motion graphics, hand-painted watercolor, crayon picture book, pixel art, paper cut-out stop-motion, whiteboard doodle and anime cel. It learns technique from the reference and never reuses its footage, characters or assets.
Give ReelMimic the video and a one-line brief, and it studies the pacing, framing and transitions to make a new video without carrying over the original assets.
It shows you the storyboard, characters, assets and style frames first, and you can chat about changes until you hit approve.
It matches your reference to one of seven 2D engines, from hand-painted watercolor to pixel art, and makes a finished video like its 30 to 63 second demos.
Clone the repo, run install.sh and then start.sh (install.bat and start.bat on Windows), and open localhost:4318. You need Node.js 22.18+, Python 3.10+, FFmpeg, Chrome and a logged-in Claude Code or Codex CLI.
Claude Code and Codex CLI. ReelMimic runs on your own computer, and you pick which one to use on its home page for each video. Claude Code picks up the skills in the repo on its own, and Codex reads AGENTS.md.
Yes. The code is MIT licensed, though the work counts toward your Claude Code or Codex account's usage. If you hit a limit, the job pauses and can pick up where it stopped. API keys in its settings add extras such as narration voices and more stock media.
A 30 to 60 second video usually takes 1 to 3.5 hours after you approve the plan, depending on the length and the look. Watercolor and crayon are the slowest, because ReelMimic paints every frame with brushes.
